A quiet studio workshop in Cologne:
Create a small cloth with flowers and plant parts – and then hand-dye a pair of naturally mordanted socks.
Two techniques, two rhythms, two hours with color.
In this introduction you will learn the basics of natural dyeing – practical, simplified and without prior knowledge.
You work with natural dyes from plants, bark and shells and experience how color changes on textiles.
First, you create a cotton cloth using the bundle-dye technique, in which flowers and plant parts are placed directly onto the fabric and fixed with heat.
Next, you hand-dye a pair of naturally dyed socks – layer by layer, an organic dye is created.
All materials are prepared; the colors come from plants such as walnut shell, avocado, logwood, or gerbera cacao.
The dyed pieces will be washed and ironed in the studio after the workshop. You can pick them up a few days later – or have them sent to you by post for €6.50.
